Pivot - the center, a place to depend on and move from and around, the heart.

Updated: Jan 9, 2019

Movement has always been an integral part of my life. Movement has been my catharsis through many life-altering events. It is a place I can depend on when life hands me challenges or when uncertainty asks for clarity. Understanding the healing dynamics of movement gave me the inspiration to share its vast properties and possibilities with anyone willing to share the expereince with me. This journey lead me to workshops to teach women to feel joy in their bodies, to butt kicking classes to teach others to enjoy the ability to sweat, to teaching young students how to dance ballet, hip-hop, jazz and modern. It took me too a Dance Minor, a Masters of Social Work, and continuous certifications in Somatic therapy movement and dance. And... it brought me to my current love of dance and yoga that allows for everyone to feel the joy and transformation of movement. Pivot - Is a culmination of decades of hard work, inspiration, faith, study, research and love of something that I know without a doubt, can uplift lives in only a few minutes on the dance floor. These classes are about uplifting. They are about building a safe space that anyone can feel free to be in their body and experience the sensation of that freedom. It’s about relationships and companionship. It’s about finding our center from where we can shift and grow. The curriculum I’ve developed incorporates many wonderful components: From a safe space there is body awareness and somatic understanding and communication. Through repetition and choreography, there is neuro-connections that allow for better right and left brain communication and neurological activity. Students learn about locomotor movement and axial movement, and incorporate emotional understanding. They build relationships and social connections and friendships. Students learn the Language of Dance and how to connotate dance and how to choreograph with their fellow students. They learn tempo, rhythm and to find their internal rhythm. Students learn coping skills and breathing techniques for emotional regulation. They learn healthy thinking patterns and skills for dealing with the stresses of daily living. And most of all, students learn a sense of self that is able, and accepted, and creative, and that is part of something kind and loving and full of joy. Please feel free to contact me for more information or visit the Pivot website at
